Welcome to the print shop, the corner of my site where photographs become tangible objects. Every print here is made in a small edition, printed on archival paper, then signed and numbered by hand before it ships from my studio to your door. When an edition sells out, it never comes back. The books are an open run and ship unsigned.

Every photograph here was made in one of two places: inside Fenway Park, or within a few miles of home on Boston’s North Shore, in Salem, Beverly, Beverly Farms, Peabody, and Gloucester. If you live around here, or host people who are visiting, these are pictures of the places just outside the door.

How these are made

One exposure, moved on purpose

Every photograph in this shop is a single frame. Nothing is composited, nothing is stacked, no filter is doing the work. I use a slow shutter, and while it is open I move the camera deliberately, so the light in front of the lens stretches across the frame and the picture comes back looking closer to watercolor than to a photograph.

The movement is chosen, not random. I am not making blurry pictures. I pick a move that exaggerates the one thing that makes a place that place, the way a caricature artist exaggerates the one feature that makes a face that face. Fenway is old and tight and alive, so the movement has to say that.

What is in the shop

Dreaming of Fenway Park

Three photographs made inside the oldest ballpark in baseball, on one August night that ended with a walk off in the ninth. Rocket Off the Wall is the double off the Green Monster that tied the game, seen from the stands. Nine Innings is one pan held the length of the ballgame, the field and the dirt and the crowd above it flattened into bands and handed back as one horizon. Obstructed View is the century old pillar that stands between one of the best seats in the house and the field, which is the gamble every Fenway ticket takes.

All three are on sale now as signed and numbered editions, on paper, on canvas, or framed, in sizes from 4 by 6 inches up to 24 by 36 inches. The full set of seventeen photographs, eleven of which are in no print edition, is in the book.

Dreaming of Boston’s North Shore

Three photographs made within a few miles of home. The Walk Home is an afternoon in Peabody under peak fall color, the lane dissolving as the camera moved with my stride. Night Passage is bare winter trees at dusk in Beverly Farms, with headlights writing their own lines through the dark below. Open Water is the horizon off Gloucester reduced to bands of blue and one soft line of light.

Who makes these

Michael Rotiroti

Michael Rotiroti is a photographer and camera operator in Boston. He earned his BFA in Photography from Endicott College in 2020, and his documentary and news work has been recognized with a National News and Documentary Emmy, a duPont-Columbia Award, and an RFK Journalism Award.

Fenway Park and the North Shore are in this shop for the same reason. I grew up twenty five minutes from Yankee Stadium and fell asleep to the games I could not get to on the radio, and I live on the North Shore now. Both are places I already carry around, and every photograph here was made inside one of them.

Guests staying in Boston, Salem, Beverly, Gloucester, or anywhere on Cape Ann respond to art of the place they came to see, and local imagery is one of the cheapest ways to make a short term rental feel considered instead of catalog-furnished. The 4″ × 6″ prints scale across bedrooms and hallways without blowing a budget, and one 16″ × 24″ carries a living room. Every print is signed and numbered by hand, made to order, and shipped from Massachusetts in about 14 days. All sales are final. The detail is below.

How each one is made, finished, and bordered

I photograph, edit, and inspect each print by hand, and once approved I sign and number it in its edition. Prints are made on archival lustre paper from the full resolution files. Signing applies to prints only: books are an open edition and ship unsigned.

A quick note on borders

The photographs here are shown as the image alone, but every print arrives with a white paper border, and its width varies from photograph to photograph so that each one keeps its own crop. The paper is the size you select, so a 16″ × 24″ print is 16″ × 24″ of paper with the image centered inside it. Full bleed is not an option.

Rates by size, packing, and timing

Everything is made to order and ships anywhere in the U.S. from Massachusetts in about 14 days. An order pays one rate, set by the largest thing in it, so a small print ordered with a framed piece rides along in that box for nothing extra.

Prints ship flat or safely rolled in a rigid tube, books in board mailers, framed and canvas pieces boxed and insured. Local pickup around the North Shore and Greater Boston can be arranged. Checkout is handled securely by Stripe.

The Rules

How the editions work and what sells out

Each size is its own numbered edition. Editions shrink as the piece grows: ten at the smallest sizes, then seven, then five, and three of the largest. At any one size the print, the canvas, and the framed piece all draw from that size’s edition, so ordering the canvas takes a number out of the same run as the paper print. Editions are sold in order and never reprinted. Books are an open run, do not sell out, and ship unsigned. Every numbered piece ships with a certificate noting its place in its edition.

Returns, damage, and the Terms of Sale

Every piece is made, signed, and numbered by hand for the person who orders it, so I do not accept returns, refunds, or exchanges. If something arrives damaged, send me a photo within 7 days and I’ll make you a replacement from the same edition number.
