Winslow Homer: A Legacy in Watercolor is a production for the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston celebrating the watercolor work of Winslow Homer, the Boston‑born painter whose luminous watercolors remain among the museum's most beloved holdings. It's the kind of considered, art‑forward piece the MFA is known for.
I came on as the freelance on‑location boom operator and sound recorder for the MFA team on this half‑day shoot, running a RØDE NTG3B shotgun microphone to capture clean, natural location sound in the gallery environment. The finished film is above.
Recording sound around artwork means staying quiet, unobtrusive, and precise, keeping the mic tight on the subject while protecting the space and the pieces around it. It's a small footprint with a high bar for audio quality.
From single‑mic interviews to full production sound on delicate sets, I bring careful, broadcast‑ready audio across New England and New York.
