Chuck’s Story, Captain’s Ball 2025 Fundraising Video

The Film

Chuck’s Story is the eight‑minute film I edited for the Bourque Family Foundation’s Captain’s Ball in 2025, working with Snowcap Productions. The ball was in honor of Pete Frates, and the film tells his story along with Chuck’s and the foundation’s. It played to a room of major donors to raise money for ALS research, and I cut the story and built the motion graphics.

The Edit

Snowcap brought me in to build the edit from scratch, and I cut it over five days. There was a version from the year before, and the brief was to match it and then make it better. I had full creative freedom on the structure, and I worked day to day with Glenn Romero, the producer at Snowcap, while the cut came together. The footage was shot on a Sony FX3.

Honestly, it was a hard edit, for three reasons: the deadline, the subject and the quality bar. This is a film about ALS made for the people who fund the fight against it, so it couldn’t look rushed, even with five days on the calendar. Every story beat and every graphic had to hold up in the room it was going to play in. A week after I finished, I started on the Spirit Ball gala video for Alex’s Team Foundation, the same kind of job: real stories cut to play at an event and drive donations.

For Your Event

If your nonprofit has a gala or a donor night coming up, I can build the film from your interviews, footage and archive, with titles and graphics made for the big screen, and plan the schedule back from the event date. What I’m after is a room that knows the people on screen by the time the ask comes. I’m based in Boston, and you can see how I cover the night itself on my event video page and how I shoot and cut the stories on my interview and testimonial video page.
