Pan-Mass Challenge Video

Camera Operator·Editor·Segment Graphics

Why I Ride, the segment that closes WBZ Boston’s Pan‑Mass Challenge program. I cut it and made the segment graphics.

I’ve been working on the Pan‑Mass Challenge with Snowcap Productions since 2024, on camera at events and ride days and in the edit on a broadcast segment. This page puts all of it in one place, newest first: PMC Unpaved 2026 in the Berkshires, the 2026 ride weekend, Why I Ride for WBZ Boston, and a day at Fenway Park. If you’re looking for a PMC videographer or for charity ride video in Boston, this is the work.

PMC Unpaved 2026

October 2 to 3, 2026·Camp Mah‑Kee‑Nac, Lenox, MA·Camera and Edit

PMC Unpaved is the Pan‑Mass Challenge’s gravel ride in the Berkshires. Snowcap Productions covered the weekend at Camp Mah‑Kee‑Nac, and I brought my own Sony FX9 and a7 IV. That one weekend turned into three pieces, and each one has its own page.

  • Friday nightThe fireside chat. Dana‑Farber CEO Dr. Ben Ebert sat down with the PMC’s Meredith Beaton‑Starr on the lakeside stage, then took questions from riders. We had three cameras and a drone, and I ran two of the cameras and cut the multicam from the recorder audio. The PMC Unpaved fireside chat →
  • SaturdayRide day on The Eagle. 196 riders on a 51.1 mile route, with water stops in West Stockbridge, Canaan, New York, and Richmond. Call was 6 a.m., and my shot list was built around the stops. PMC Unpaved ride day →
  • Saturday eveningThe Living Proof toast. After the ride the camp gathered on the stone steps by the lake to toast the riders and volunteers who are cancer survivors or patients. PMC founder Billy Starr opened it, Jen Timmins of Dana‑Farber led the toast, and I ran two of the three cameras. The PMC Unpaved Living Proof toast →

PMC 2026 Ride Weekend

August 1 to 2, 2026·Wrentham, Dighton‑Rehoboth and Wellesley, MA·Camera

For the Pan‑Mass Challenge ride weekend itself I was on camera for Snowcap Productions. The plan had me at the first aid stations on Saturday, Wrentham and the Dighton‑Rehoboth lunch stop, then at the finish at Babson College in Wellesley on Sunday.

Picking the first two stops was on purpose. Early in the day the riders still come through in big packs, and the farther down the route you go, the more the field thins out.

The plan at each stop was the same: a wide that shows the place and the riders coming under the arch, then tighter, then close ups of riders who look like they earned it. Lens choice matters here too. A long lens up the road packs the riders together, and a wide lens spreads them out and makes a crowd look thin.

Why I Ride, WBZ Boston

2026·WBZ Boston, aired on WSBK Channel 38·Segment Editor and Graphics

Snowcap Productions brought me in to edit Why I Ride, the three‑minute segment that closes WBZ Boston’s Pan‑Mass Challenge program. Three cancer survivors talk about why they get on the bike. I had their long interviews and a deep archive of their personal photos, and I built one story out of the three, letting the photos carry the moments between soundbites. I also made the animated lower thirds and the motion on the archival photos, and it’s the video at the top of this page. The full Why I Ride recap →

PMC at Fenway Park, 2024

March 2024·Fenway Park, Boston·Camera

In March 2024 I spent a shoot day at Fenway Park with the Snowcap Productions crew, filming for the Pan‑Mass Challenge. It’s the earliest job on this page, and the first of a lot of PMC days with Glenn Romero and his team.

What Carries Over

A charity ride is really two jobs. Out on the road it’s logistics, knowing the route, the stops and the timing well enough that I’m already standing in the right place when the riders get there. On stage it’s live coverage, with every camera rolling, clean sound from the recorder, and an edit that gives a speaker’s words room to land. I do both and I cut them too, and there’s more on event and conference video in Boston or on my services.

Charity Rides & Fundraisers

If you’ve got a ride weekend, a talk or a toast coming up for your nonprofit, send me the date and where it is and I’ll put together a plan for the coverage. I can cut it for you too.
