Camera Operator
I filmed ride day at PMC Unpaved 2026 for Snowcap Productions. PMC Unpaved is the Pan‑Mass Challenge’s gravel ride in the Berkshires, and it raises money for cancer research and care at Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute. On Saturday, October 3, 196 riders took on The Eagle, a 51.1 mile route out of Camp Mah‑Kee‑Nac in Lenox, Massachusetts.
Most of cycling event video is logistics. The riders spread out over fifty miles, and the camera only gets the moment if it’s already standing there when the pack comes through. So before the weekend I built my own offline tracker of The Eagle with all 63 turn cues on it.
Call was 6 a.m., with sunrise at 6:52. On paper my shot list started with the 7 a.m. yoga session at camp, then all three water stops, wides at a firehouse along the route, and staged shots of the volunteers. That’s a lot of ground to cover, so I planned it stop by stop.
I brought my own Sony FX9 and Sony a7 IV, with a Canon 18‑80 and a Sony 28‑135. Both lenses are zooms, so I can get a wide of a water stop and a tight shot of one rider from the same spot, without changing lenses while the riders roll past.
Ride day ended back at the lake. Once the riding was done, the camp gathered on the stone steps for the PMC Unpaved Living Proof toast, and I ran two of the cameras on it. The night before, I’d shot and cut the fireside chat with Dana‑Farber’s CEO on the same stage. We wrapped Saturday on a bench by the water as the sun went down.

If you’ve got a charity ride or a race coming up, send me the route and the date and I’ll plan the day stop by stop, on my own cameras. There’s more on event and conference video in Boston too.
