In 2024, Boston University voice performance majors Grace Christensen and Mirah Johnston were invited to perform at the 61st Popayán International Music Festival in Popayán, Colombia, alongside Assistant Professor of Voice David Guzmán. The festival has run since 1964 and has hosted more than 4,000 artists from 36 countries in Popayán, the capital of Colombia's Cauca region. I went along to make BU to Colombia for the College of Fine Arts.
I directed, produced, and edited the film, and in Colombia I was the whole crew: one Canon C300, plus a Canon 5D Mark III for the trip's photo story. With several flights ahead, I packed so nothing got checked. I shot the interviews handheld with no tripod, asking the questions while I filmed.
