Lauren Mahoney is a voice student at Boston University's College of Fine Arts with a side gig most singers only dream about: performing the national anthem at TD Garden, Fenway Park, and Boston's St. Patrick's Day Parade. This short film for BU follows that journey, from the practice rooms on Commonwealth Avenue to some of the biggest stages in the city.
I was director of photography and editor on this piece. Profile films live or die on intimacy, so the job was capturing both sides of Lauren's world: the quiet repetition of training, and the scale of an arena holding its breath before the first note. Then in the edit, stitching those two worlds into one story.
