Work I have shot and cut in Boston

More work from Greater Boston

Every project on the site, with the role I held on each, is in the portfolio.

One operator, broadcast standards

My Boston work falls into four kinds. Documentary: director of photography and camera for HBO and the Museum of Fine Arts. Broadcast: ENG camera for Dirty Water Media on NESN, and a show delivered to NBC Sports Boston. Interviews and brand films for universities, museums, and companies. And live events.

I own the package: Sony FX9, Canon C300 Mark II, Panasonic EVA1, and Sony a7 IV, with lighting, audio, wireless video, and a gimbal. Interviews and small shoots I run alone, which keeps the day simple and the budget lean. Bigger productions get a gaffer, sound, and extra camera operators I trust, each a line on your quote. The full list is on the gear page.

I also edit. Color, motion graphics, the mix, and broadcast delivery happen in house, so the person who shot your footage cuts it. See everything I offer.

“I've worked with Michael on several productions and he's always been a true professional. He's knowledgeable, reliable, and a pleasure to collaborate with on set. His camera work on the MFA's Eternal Presence project was exactly what the production needed, thoughtful, technically strong, and visually compelling. Michael has a great eye for composition and consistently delivers high-quality footage while maintaining a calm, professional presence throughout the shoot. I would gladly work with him again and highly recommend him for video production projects.”

Hiring a videographer in Boston

Do you charge for travel inside Boston?

No. Travel is included anywhere in Greater Boston and on the North Shore. Shoots elsewhere in New England and in New York are quoted with the travel.

How much notice do you need for a Boston shoot?

Two to four weeks is comfortable. If your date is closer, ask anyway and I'll tell you honestly what's possible.

How do I hold a date?

A 50% retainer holds the date, and the balance is due at delivery.

Can you deliver to a Boston station?

Yes. I deliver Cardillo’s World to NBC Sports Boston’s broadcast spec, I cut a segment that aired on WBZ, and I shoot for NESN programs. Broadcast delivery adds a conform and quality check to the edit.

Do you come alone or with a crew?

Both. Interviews and small shoots I usually run alone. Larger productions get a crew, and every person is itemized on the quote before you sign.
